Toyo Tires F1600: Estep takes win in incident free race 1 at Calabog

Trenton Estep has won race 1 of the Ted Powell Memorial Race weekend at Calabogie Motorsports ParkMichael Adams joined him on the podium after running the race in P2 and Roman De Angelisrounded out the podium.

It was another incident free session for the Toyo Tires F1600 Championship as they took to the track for race 1 of their three race weekend. Despite the track being slippery and the tires degrading faster than usual due to the heat, the race was a quiet one for most cars.

Trenton Estep led the race from flag to flag and was followed by Michael Adams. After a handful of laps, the Estep and Adams had built up such a lead over P3 runner De Angelis that there was no catching them.

Slightly further back, Jean-Phillippe Jodoin and Craig Willis ran P4 and P5 for most of the race but a last lap effort by Willis to take P4 saw him cross the line just ahead of Jodoin in P4. Willis took the win for the B-Class and was joined on the podium by Stephen Adams and Keith Lobban.

The Toyo Tires F1600 Series returns to the track tomorrow for two more races at 10:10am and 2:25pm.
